To install a programmable energy saver switch, first turn off power at the circuit breaker. Next, remove the old switch, identify and disconnect the wires, then connect the new switch's line, load, and ground wires according to the manufacturer's diagram. Finally, secure the new switch in the wall box, restore power, and program the schedule by setting the date, time, and desired on/off periods.

Installation steps
  1. Safety First: Turn off power.
Go to your circuit breaker and switch off the power to the circuit you are working on. Use a voltage tester to confirm the power is off at the existing switch.

  • Remove the old switch.
Remove the wall plate and carefully unscrew the old switch from the electrical box. Take a picture of the wiring before disconnecting it to use as a reference.

  • Identify and disconnect wires.
Note which wire is the "line" (power from the box) and which is the "load" (wire going to the light or appliance). Disconnect them from the old switch.

  • Wire the new switch.
Connect the wires to the new programmable switch, following the specific instructions for your model.

    • Connect the line (hot) wire to the switch's corresponding terminal (e.g., black wire).

  • Connect the load wire to the switch's corresponding terminal (e.g., blue wire).

  • Connect the ground wire (bare copper or green) to the ground terminal on the new switch.

  • Use wire nuts to secure all connections.

  •
  • Mount the new switch.
Gently fold the wires back into the box, and secure the new switch with its mounting screws.

  • Reinstall the cover plate and restore power.
Put the new wall plate on. Go back to the circuit breaker and turn the power back o

Programming steps
  1. Initial setup.
The display may be blank initially. Wait one to two minutes for it to warm up.

  • Set the current time and date.
Use the buttons to set the correct time and date. Accurate time is essential for the schedule to work correctly.

  • Set the desired schedule.
Access the programming menu to create your on/off schedule.

  • Set your desired on and off times for specific days.

  • You can often program multiple on/off periods per day, such as "Wake," "Leave," "Return," and "Sleep".

  • Save the schedule.
Confirm your settings to save the programmed schedule. The switch should now automatically follow the schedule you've set.
